ANDEAN RANGE

While much of Bolivia consists of lowlands and the vast Amazon, it is the majestic Andes and their towering peaks that have shaped the country's identity throughout history.
Before entering Bolivian territory, the Andes split into two major ranges:
The Western Range, dominated by imposing volcanoes, extends toward Chile and Argentina, where South America’s highest mountains are found. At this latitude, the Andes serve as a natural border between arid deserts, the Pacific coast, and the Bolivian Altiplano, home to iconic landscapes such as the vast Uyuni Salt Flats and the sacred Lake Titicaca.
The Eastern Range features a complex system of high mountains and deep valleys that descend sharply into the lowlands and the Amazon rainforest. This region is home to four of Bolivia’s most important mountain chains: Apolobamba, the Cordillera Real, the Quimsa Cruz Range, and the Tunari Range.
These breathtaking landscapes, with dramatic elevation changes and unique scenery, provide the perfect setting for adventure sports such as mountaineering, rock climbing, mountain biking, and trekking. They also offer opportunities for high-altitude traverses and unforgettable road trips through lagoons, glaciers, and awe-inspiring natural environments.
